1970s Modular Desk
1970s Modular Desk
This desk was part of a modular living room set and was designed in collaboration by architects Frantisek Mezulanik with Mojmir Pozar. The set was produced by UP Zavody in their factory in Bucovice near Brno.
This desk was designed in the 1970s and combines the aesthetics and technology of a modular system in keeping with both Mezulanik and Pozar’s older works for UP Zavody.
The desk has a colour combination that consists of a distinct dark brown mahogany wood in the main body of the piece, with a contrasting light paint on the drawers and black colour of the oak legs.
The desk has got six drawers in total - four sliding drawers on the left side, one in the middle and one on the right. There are two shorter tampered legs supporting the right drawers and two long legs on the right side. This solution makes this piece to look very light and effortless.
This piece is in good vintage condition. There is some minimal wear on the desk top and on the drawers, the lacquer showing some small signs of ageing at some parts but overall the whole piece is nearly in its original condition.
