1960's Scandi inspired Coffee table
1960's Scandi inspired Coffee table
A long wooden coffee table designed in the style of Scandinavian Modern, but produced in Czechoslovakia in the late 1960’s.
In the 1960’s, the Czech furniture design was largely influenced by Scandinavian design. This influence is noticeable on this piece. The main decor / design feature is clearly the material itself where the dark beech combines well with the honey colour of the oak. The design of the piece uses very minimal language but all the proportions are perfectly balanced and makes the table look very subtle and elegant.
The table consists of four tampered dark coloured beech legs that are easily screwed into position. There are dark brown plastic plugs on the bottom of each leg to prevent surface scratches. These legs are screwed into a small metal parts that are directly fixed to a long oak worktop. This solution makes this table very practical in terms of storing or moving.
This piece is in good vintage condition. The old lacquer has been removed and all parts have been cleaned and newly polished in a recent restoration while using original techniques and materials. There is some minimal wear on the table top but overall the whole piece is nearly in its original condition.
