1960's Mid Century Modern Sideboard Model U-453 by Jiri Jiroutek for Interier Praha

1960's Mid Century Modern Sideboard Model U-453 by Jiri Jiroutek for Interier Praha
This is an original sideboard model U - 453. This particular piece was produced in 1963 by Interier Praha Company in former Czechoslovakia.
This Mid Century Modern sideboard in brown oak wood with black, pink and white drawers was designed by celebrated Czech furniture designer Jiri Jiroutek. It was part of the popular U collection, which also included other interior pieces such as coffee tables, sofas or cabinets.
This piece perfectly embodies the so-called Brussels Style, which is an unique Czech modification of the Mid Century Modern style. The style was named after the Expo 1958 in Brussels, where Czechoslovakia won 13 main prizes including one in the furniture category.
These U - 453 sideboards were produced in a few different versions - in two sizes and various drawers colours. Over the years they became very desirable and collectible pieces as they perfectly represent Jiroutek's talent to design furniture that is fully practical, popular and iconic.
The sideboard is in great vintage condition. There is some minor wear and tear on the wooden surface (mainly on the top part) and on the formica drawers acquired over the years. The bottom drawers are slightly stiff and need a bit of a push to close. There is some small colour stain inside one of the drawers.
