1960's Industrial Swivel Chair
1960's Industrial Swivel Chair
This adjustable wooden and steel swivel chair was designed in Czechoslovakia in the late 1960’s. It was used in factories or workshops.
It consists of three “octopus” shaped iron legs painted in a brown colour. These angled legs have small wheels on the bottom. In the middle, there is metal part with a long screw which then holds the thick rectangle beechwood seat together with an angled steel support that holds the wooden backrest.
The seat can be adjusted up or down from 49 cm to roughly 62 cm by simply winding the seat round. The natural beauty and patina of the wood is showing in every detail. This, together with the perfectly balanced proportions of each form makes this piece a a great addition to any modern, Scandi or more traditional interior. The chair can be used as an office chair, as a dining chair, workshop or as piano chair.
Overall the chair is in good vintage condition with some visible wear and patina mainly on the steel frame and wooden seat gained from its use in the factory over the years. Instead of repainting the metal frame, we wanted to keep the unique history and character of the piece and celebrate the great patina acquired over the years.
