1930's Modernist Drinks Cabinet
1930's Modernist Drinks Cabinet
This Modernist Drinks Cabinet is believed to be designed and produced in the 1930’s.
This piece has got soft curves and delightful details, as well as a subtle abstract pattern on the two glass doors and hand crafted weaved rattan.
The cabinet is divided into three parts: A glass shelf on the top, the main storage for bottles of wine / spirits. The middle shelf is designed to hold the glassware and is a wooden shelf partial covered on two sides with glass opening doors for easy access. The bottom shelf is made of rattan and can be used for storing books or magazines and is open on all sides.
The lower and middle frames (together with the legs) have a lovely subtle trim to their edge. The top part has a curved shape running along the top.
The whole piece is standing on four steel castor legs and therefore can be easily move around.
The designer / producer of the table is unfortunately unknown to us. However its design, the quality of the materials, the perfect attention to every detail indicates that it is likely to be produced by the leading furniture producers in Europe at the time - UP Brno or Thonet.
This cabinet is in good vintage condition with some small wear and patina on the wooden parts. Top part of the main oak frame has slightly bend over the years.
