1930's dining chair by Bernkop

€380.00

This in an original dining chair by the Bernkop Company and produced in the 1930’s. Berknop was based in Frendstat pod Radhostem in the east of Czechoslovakia. The company prided themselves on being a Czech manufacturer. However, their production was very similar to the famous Thonet Company, who also had some of their factories near Bernkop.

This chair has a pared back form with nicely shaped back legs and curved seat. But without a doubt, the main design feature of this piece is the remarkable contrast between light brown coloured patterned walnut of the seat and the backrest with its dark chocolate brown colour of the legs and the seat frame.

The chair has been recently completely refurbished to their former glory and have minimal wear. Our experienced craftsman has carried the restoration to the highest standard, using only the original techniques and reviving the beautiful natural pattern of both the seat and the backrest which were subsequently finished by hand in Shellac varnish.
