Table Lamp "Komisarka" by Jan Suchan
Table Lamp "Komisarka" by Jan Suchan
This now iconic piece is a Bakelite table lamp, type 102 01 nicknamed "Komisarka". It was designed by Jan Suchan and produced by Elektrosvit Nove Zamky, Czechoslovakia in the 1960’s.
The nickname “Commissar” comes from this lamp being used a lot in the police offices and in the movies, but also at the time of its production most of the household owned one or wanted one.
The lamp base and the lampshade are made of black bakelite, which is connected together by two steel rods. The lampshade can be adjusted to different positions and high by moving the steel rod.
This piece is in great vintage condition with some minor wear on the steel rods gained over the years. All parts (including the switch, the bulb fitting, cord and the European plug) are original and fully functional.
