This is an original pair of copper table lamps designed by Vladimir Havel.

Havel was a very interesting person; he studied metalwork and later painting at the Academy of Fine Arts. From the late 1940’s, Vladimir Havel worked as a main lightning designer for renowned Krasna Jizba Company and was responsible for the design of various iconic pieces.

After the difficult war years, Havel brought back the use of high quality metal materials such as aluminium and copper and through it, the pre-war Bauhaus aesthetic as well. In his pieces there is a wonderful combination of functionality and beauty.

These lamps are often nicknamed the "Mushroom lights" for the similarities in their shape and form. The the on/off button is placed on copper base which also holds the metal cone that hides the bulb inside, and supports the curved round lamp shades. The lampshades can be adjusted side to side, which changes the lighting intensity.

Both pieces are in vintage condition, with some wear and patina on the copper surface gained over the years. The existing patina adds a unique charm, character and originality to the whole set. Both lamps have been recently rewired according to the original design and are fully functional.
