This bright red adjustable lamp was designed by Napako Lightning company in the 1960’s Czechoslovakia. It’s designer, Josef Hurka is considered by many as the most talented and commercially most successful Czech lighting designer of the second part of the 20th Century. Almost every Czech household had at least one piece designed by him somewhere in their homes and many of his lights are now consider iconic.
This lamp can be fixed to the edge of the table which gives the light extra stability. The lamp can be adjust in many directions and angles, which make this piece a perfect light for either for drawing or reading. It’s shade is a bright red colour with a hint of orange. This was a colour combination widely popular in the 1960s. In contrast, the inside of the lampshade is painted white and the subtle support rods holding the whole structure are a shiny silver colour.
The on/off switch is located on the back top part of the the lampshade.
Despite being produced in 1960's, this lamp design is extremely contemporary.
This piece is in great vintage condition. There are some very small scratches and minimal dents due to normal wear and tear. All parts (including the switch, the bulb fitting, cord and the European plug) are original and fully functional. The lampshade has been repainted with exactly same colour as the original one.
