Pair of 1920's Dining chairs

€0.00

This rare set of two dining/lounge chairs is believed to be produced around the 1920’s and their aesthetic is hugely influenced by the work of Wiener Werkstätte, particularly by Josef Hoffman. They are also similar to furniture designed by other Austrian - Czech architects like Adolf Loos or Heinrich Kulka. We have never come across these chairs before and their actual designer is sadly unknown to us.

Their design combines the soft Art Nouveau curves and precise attention to every detail with the more avant-garde use of simple geometric shapes and form. The dark brown leather seats and armrests nicely highlight the rich texture of the Elmwood.

The chairs were sources from one of the old Villa houses in Brno and it is most likely that this pair was a bespoke project for a private client a particularly for that Villa.

This pair is in good vintage condition showing wear and tear on some parts of the leather cushions . The wood has been cleaned and polished again to its original condition.
